Why Your Lower Back Pain May Be Caused by a Pinched Nerve

Many of us experience low back pain. What about low back pain that may be caused by a pinched nerve? Here at our Jacksonville, FL chiropractic office, we specialize in treating patients with an array of injuries, including low back pain.

Common Reasons Behind Low Back Pain

Heavy labor, repetitive motions, sports and even some recreational activities can cause back and neck pain. Sometimes this type of pain or injury can be commonly misdiagnosed as sciatica.

Our priority at our Jacksonville Beach office is being able to distinguish what is actually causing that low back pain and if it is, in fact, a pinched nerve that is causing the pain to radiate.

What is a Pinched Nerve?

A pinched nerve is caused when there is inflammation or pressure on a nerve root that is exiting between the spinal bones. If there is inflammation on a nerve exiting the spine, it can cause neck or low back pain. When your spinal bones are subluxating, which is when the bones are misaligned, it can pull and irritate the nerves around the bones causing you to feel that pain of a pinched nerve. These nerves are connected to the muscles which cause the muscle spasms and pain that you feel.

If you have a pinched nerve in your low back or lumbar spine that pain can radiate into your buttocks, thigh, calf or foot. This is known as sciatic nerve pain. The sciatic nerve is the nerve that travels from your lower back through your buttocks down into the leg.

Many of our patients have entered our office with the hope for improving their health and wellness. We make sure all of our patients leave our office pain free and back on track to a healthy lifestyle.

“ I came into Integrative Healthcare Solutions for low back pain. Dr. Vesce did my exam and after reviewing my injuries he determined it was caused from a pinched nerve. After the treatment plan, which took about 2 to 3 weeks, I felt relief immediately. My pain has subsided and I am up and moving again! “ – A.L
