Digital Radiography

Digital Radiography From Your Chiropractor in Jacksonville, FL

Digital radiography is exciting because of how incredibly useful it is. Unlike traditional x-rays, which can take hours or even days to produce, digital radiography produces images in minutes. That means that we can scan you, get the results and get on with your diagnosis and treatment – all within your first visit. As your chiropractor in Jacksonville, FL, Integrative Healthcare Solutions is your resource for the latest chiropractic and holistic treatments!

What is Digital Radiography?

The easiest way to understand digital radiography is to think of a standard x-ray machine – only better. A regular x-ray uses radiation to produce images. Digital radiography does the same thing, only using a lower dose of radiation. Because of the lower level of radiation, use of the machine is safer than traditional x-ray. Digital radiography also avoids the need to use the harmful chemicals associated with regular x-ray machines, so the environment benefits as well.

Digital radiography improves on standard x-rays by being more adjustable, so we can get a clearer picture of the anatomy of your bones, cartilage, soft tissue and joint spacing. It is also much, much faster, so we can get the images we need during the same visit that the scan is conducted. We can also share the images more easily with other care providers.

Digital radiography scans are easy to store, so we can keep a copy on file of all of your scans throughout your time with us. Previous x-rays can be useful later on – even years later – when you experience health problems and need further care. We can easily pull up your old x-rays and compare your new x-rays to identify new problems and to study the current health of your spine.

Why Do We Use Digital Radiography?

We use digital radiography because it is the most efficient way for us to see inside of your body and identify problems quickly and accurately. Before x-rays were invented, doctors only had physical examinations and educated guesswork to know what was happening inside the human body. Obviously it is easier to provide proper care when you know what is wrong, which is why x-rays revolutionized medical care.

With digital radiography, we have an even better version of the x-ray machine. Digital radiography can identify a wide variety of issues, including tumors, fractures, infections, musculoskeletal conditions and more. Digital radiography can aid in diagnosing conditions such as digestive problems, arthritis, bone abnormalities, lung conditions, osteoporosis and bone cancer. We can see weaknesses in the spine that would be undetectable otherwise.

Digital radiography is not just useful for identifying major problems, either. The scans we conduct are accurate enough for us to see even minor spinal misalignments – problems that are not major, but that once corrected may bring relief in ways you might not expect.

Through digital radiography, we can see both major and minor issues so that we can design a treatment plan to treat them. And further scans can tell us what kind of progress we are making, so that we can correct the course of treatment as necessary to get the desired result.

Your Body is Unique – Requiring Customized Treatment

Chiropractic care is designed treat the individual. Every body is unique, which means that blanket, one-size-fits-all treatment is not going to work for everyone. It may work perfectly for some, but many others will only see partial improvement or no improvement at all.

Our ability to customize your treatment is directly related to our understanding of your specific body and its current state of health. Digital radiography lets us see your condition accurately, both at the beginning of treatment and as we go through the treatment process. By getting accurate information on the state of your spine and your body, we can make sure that we are giving you the treatment you need.

Part of a Comprehensive Exam

While we are understandable excited about digital radiography and the options it offers, it is only one tool in our toolbox. When you come in for your appointment, we will conduct a comprehensive exam that will include a full physical exam from your doctor, as well as a variety of questions to determine your symptoms, your medical history and more. We take your input seriously, and we want to get to know you along with your current health issue.

Your radiological data is only a part of the exam process. Once we have completed all other parts of the exam, we will compare the information we have gathered with your x-rays to get the most complete picture we can of your current condition.

What Comes After the Exam?

Your doctor will carefully consider all the available information, including your answers to questions, your physical exam and your x-rays, before designing a treatment plan. We are focused on holistic, non-invasive treatments at Integrative Healthcare Solutions, so you can expect a treatment plan focused on getting results – without compromising your health through unnecessary surgeries or medications.

Your treatment plan may include:

Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractic adjustments are designed to realign your spine. A properly aligned spine will alleviate pressure on your discs, nerves and help your body to heal itself. The spine is a complex structure, and it is not uncommon for adjustments to provide relief for problems that were seemingly unrelated. Your adjustment may not just reduce pain from obvious issues – like bulging or herniated discs – but for other problems as well.

Massage Therapy

Massage works well when combined with chiropractic adjustments. The adjustment realigns the spine, while massage loosens muscles so that the adjustment stays in place. Massage can also prove pain relief and relaxation.

Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression uses traction to gently decompress your spine. Decompression can produce much-needed space in your spine to allow discs to reposition, can increase bloodflow to aid in healing, and can help relieve pain. The doctor uses a specialized table to provide decompression, entering in precises instructions to ensure that your spine is decompressed only as much as is necessary to get the desired result.

Corrective Exercises

Sometimes the best we to recover over the long term is to learn new, healthier movements and to strengthen the muscles that support the injured area. Once we have relieved your initial pain, we can help you to learn movements that will lessen the likelihood of future injuries, and we can help you learn ways to get stronger as well.

Cold Laser Therapy

Our cold laser therapy uses the best class IV cold lasers available to penetrate deeply and target scar tissue, to reduce inflammation and to reduce pain. Because the laser is cold, there is no discomfort during the treatment. Cold laser therapy can help with a variety of issues, including arthritis, tinnitus, tendinitis, bursitis, diabetic neuropathy and more.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound transmits high-frequency sound waves through the skin surface and into soft tissues that are injured or inflamed. The sound waves are absorbed by the soft tissues like tendons, fascia and scar tissue, which results in a reduction in inflammation and breaks down hard tissue deposits.

Non-Invasive Treatment – Our Goal and Our Commitment

Digital radiography is one of the many tools we use to adhere to the standard of all chiropractors – to provide healing and improve health with little to no invasive procedures. While there are times when surgery can be useful and even necessary, most of the time it does more harm than good. Especially with back and neck pain, surgery almost always causes more problems than it fixes.

By getting accurate scans of your body and your current condition, we can apply one of many proven treatments that are designed to aid your body’s own healing processes. There are so many available options, ranging from adjustments to corrective exercises, cold laser therapy to therapeutic ultrasound, that there is a very good chance that we can greatly improve your condition – without compromising your overall health.

Often patients report feeling better after only a single visit. An exam and a treatment session may be all you need to get some relief.
